Corporate finance management

Estimated duration : 9h30

Route 5 is devoted to business financing, an aspect of management as important as production or marketing. When an entrepreneur is looking to start a horticultural business or expand his operations, he will need funds for land, greenhouses, machinery, irrigation systems. They will also need working capital to pay for staff and supplies such as seeds, soil conditioners or fertilizers.

On many occasions, therefore, business managers must seek funds from appropriate sources and use these funds wisely. Business finance is the area of finance that focuses on how businesses obtain and use funds to ensure the continuity of their operations. Businesses must manage these funds prudently, first by assessing their funding needs, second by determining the most appropriate sources of funds, and third by investing the funds to achieve their goals and objectives.

We will see that financing is critical to almost every business decision, from planning and budgeting to cash flow management, capital structure, business risk mitigation and cost minimization. We will find that the financing function of the firm, which involves raising and using funds, has a significant effect on the production and marketing functions.
